        The Prime Minister of Guinea Bissau, Martinho N'Dafa Cabi is 48 years old has a degree in Engineering from a Cuban university and until he was nominated was the third vice-president of the African Party for the Independence of Guinea-Bissau and Cape Verde (PAIGC) .

        Martinho N'Dafa Cabi, who is an ethnic balanta, had a fundamental role in resolving the military crisis following the October 2004 uprising in which the then head of the Armed Forces, General Veríssimo Correia Seabra, was killed.

        Martinho N'Dafa Cabi is the 11th prime minister of Guinea Bissau since 1994, and follows Aristides Gomes, Carlos Gomes Júnior, Artur Sanha, Mário Pires, Faustino Embali, Caetano Intchamá, Alamara Nhassé, Francisco Fadul, Carlos Correia and Manuel Saturnino Costa, in the role.

        He had several ministerial roles in previous governments, the latest being Defense Minister, which he gave up on October 27, 2005 after the exoneration of the government of prime minister Carlos Gomes Júnior.
